We had a beautiful turn out in 2016 and hope to have a great one again. THE DIG IS OPENED TO PUBLIC AS WELL AS GPAA MEMBERS. There will be a CAP of 30 up to 40 dig participants. NON-GPAA participants and/or potential NEW MEMBERS are welcome to join in and see what we are all about. Friends and family are always welcome (they do not have to participate in the dig to be welcome: more in a bit about what is available for them ). GET SIGNED UP ASAP to assure your spot in the dig.
The Common Dig ($150) per person and includes material for all day Saturday and Sunday. There are 2 shifts each day; 1 morning and 1 in the afternoon. IMPORTANT: ALL participants MUST ATTEND a SAFETY MEETING before the first dig on Saturday at 8:30 AM and the dig starts immediately following. First shift ends at lunch - Second shift starts after lunch. Those in the First shift will go to Second on Sunday and vice versa. ALSO, those participating in the dig are welcome to pan on their off time included as a part of the dig fee. ALL FINDS from the dig are SPLIT between ALL PARTICIPANTS OF THE DIG ONLY with a bag of concentrates for each and ALL NUGGETS found will be shared in a random drawing by numbers and completed right after Second shift on Sunday.
For those not participating in the Common Dig, they can hunt for rough gemstones in the Gem Mine, or pan for gold at their own expense on site or just enjoy the scenery, relax and visit with or make new friends. There are various sizes and costs of the gem buckets along with a fully demonstrated showing of what to look for. You are informed about what to keep along with an interesting explanation of what the stones are and/or where they come from if you don't know. There are Gem Buckets for ALL AGES, from toddlers on up to the adult sizes. There is also a great gift store attached to the Gem Mine with a large variety of awesome and interesting items for gifts for young or older, or for yourself. Gem bags can also be purchased to take with you as well for those grandchildren or anyone liking the stones. The Gem bags also make nice gifts, especially for the younger folks. Geode stones will be cut for a minimal $5 if you have one and would like to see inside at the beautiful crystals. Guessing what some of the stones are is part of the fun.
There is also a Gift Shop with a bunch of other various gifts to be obtained along with Gold Bags to take home. If you choose to do your own mining in the creek, equipment can be obtained along with a load(s) of dirt, the same as goes with the Dig except you have it all to yourself.
The Gold Camp will have a spaghetti dinner including meatballs if you wish,($5) Saturday evening for each person that wishes to participate; you need not participate in the dig to participate in the dinner. Vegetables, salad, soft drinks, coffee, etc. and desert are included. For lunches Saturday and Sunday someone will be taking up a collection for luncheon meats, cheese, breads, snacks, drinks, etc. each day. ALL from the dig and those with them are welcome.
CREDIT CARDS may be utilized by calling the Thermal City number above to pay for the dig etc., and WILL BE ACCEPTED UP UNTIL Friday afternoon on May 19th until 5:00 PM. You MUST BE REGISTERED AND PAID BEFORE 8:30 AM on Saturday morning, the first day of the dig to participate. NO ONE will be able to join the dig after 8:30 AM when the SAFETY MEETING starts. The office opens at 8:00 AM the first day of the dig. ALL PAYMENTS THIS YEAR need to go through the TC OFFICE to avoid confusion and keep record of attendees. Page or Betty (office) will keep me updated.
You have plenty of time to decide and plan to come and HAVE A BUNDLE OF FUN and MEET NEW FOLKS and MAKE NEW FRIENDS. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE.
